Around and about

The Lauwersmeer National Park is at the heart of Lauwersland, the most northern part of the Netherlands. Lauwersland is characterised by pretty, still intact and well-preserved villages on artificial mounds and endless long-distance vistas. You can cycle, walk and sail here to your heart's content. Information on the area can be obtained from the tourist offices (VVV) in Dokkum and Zoutkamp and in the folder racks in the regional tourist offices.
In addition, there is another beautiful National Park in the region, namely Schiermonnikoog. This park too, like all the other Dutch National Parks, is very definitely worth a visit.
